This utility clears out all Roland USB Windows drivers and should be used if you are having difficulty installing your USB driver.
Note: You will have to reinstall the drivers for any other Roland device that is using a USB connection for Audio or MIDI.
If you have a Roland Edirol UA1000 that was previously running on OSX without any issues. You will find that once you upgrade your operating system to the latest OSX (Yosemite / ElCapitan etc), you Mac will fail to recognise the device. What will happen is that when you plug the USB into your mac, there will be no response from you Mac.
I called Roland to enquire but they explained that there are not supporting this kit anymore as it has been discontinued. However do not despair as you will be glad to know that i have found the solution to the issue with MAC.
First of all, you will need to download the right driver for your MAC.
For UA-1000 DRIVER VERSION 2.0.1 FOR MAC OS X 10.5 OR EARLIER – Click on http://www.roland.co.uk/support/by_product/ua-1000/updates_drivers/2378
For UA-1000 DRIVER VERSION 1.0.0 FOR MAC OS X 10.6 OR LATER – click on http://www.roland.co.uk/support/by_product/ua-1000/updates_drivers/3899
Once you have downloaded install the the right driver. If you go in ‘launchpad’, you will find a new app named ‘UA1000 control panel’. As you know if you click on that, it will come up as ‘no device’.
Now the solution – you will need to disable your system integrity protection also known as SIP. It is very simple.. First unplug your edirol from the Mac. shut down all applications on your mac and restart your it and follow the instructions below:
Once you are back into your usual operating system. plug your Edirol back in and go back into Launchpad and click ‘UA-1000 Control panel’ and your Roland Edirol UA-1000 should be recognised and work as normal. That’s it!!!
Please note that you are doing this at your own risk and therefore i am not responsible if this product messes up your computer
